What to do with the poop?

Beautiful things can be made with poop. My fellow 3D printers will understand what I mean immediately. Others might be wondering what kind of medication I’m on. When printing multi-color prints, the printer extrudes plastic to clean and calibrate the printing unit. What remains can be described as colorful plastic mini bird droppings (poop).

Being extremely resource-conscious, and with Emelie being an excellent cook who just bought a new waffle iron, I thought I might give it a try. I heated up the waffle iron and started to stuff it with 3D-printed plastic. When it couldn’t accept any more material, I left it there for a couple of minutes. After a few refills, I figured it should be done, so I unplugged the waffle iron and waited for it to cool down. The result?

A satisfyingly beautiful piece of plastic. Each weighs around 110 grams, giving them a substantial feel. I now have four of these on my desk and I’m not quite sure what to do with them. However, they are very satisfying to fiddle with, keeping my fingers busy during online meetings.
